Systematic review & meta-analysis, end to end
Protocol to publishable review: registration, search strings, dual screening, risk of bias, PRISMA 2020 and effect-size pooling.
What this is
You run a real review on your own topic from the first week. Each module ends with an artefact — a registered protocol, a reproducible search, a screening log, a risk-of-bias table, a PRISMA flow diagram and a pooled estimate — produced inside the SciExpert workspace rather than in slides.
What you will be able to do
- • Write and register a protocol that a journal will accept
- • Build reproducible searches for PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science
- • Run dual blinded screening and resolve conflicts defensibly
- • Apply RoB 2 / ROBINS-I and report certainty of evidence
- • Pool effect sizes and read heterogeneity honestly
Workspace services used
Every module is practised inside services you already have in your account.
Start in workspace — Collaborative ScreeningSyllabus
1. Question framing & protocol
PICO/SPIDER, eligibility criteria, PROSPERO registration and deviations.
2. Searching
Boolean and proximity syntax, MeSH and Emtree, grey literature, citation chasing, deduplication.
3. Screening
Blinded title/abstract screening, conflict resolution, full-text exclusion reasons.
4. Extraction
Designing an extraction form, piloting it, and keeping provenance to the source quote.
5. Risk of bias & certainty
RoB 2, ROBINS-I, GRADE summary-of-findings tables.
6. Synthesis
Effect sizes, fixed vs random effects, heterogeneity, subgroup and sensitivity analysis, PRISMA reporting.
