AI in research: what it can and cannot do

A grounded look at where AI helps literature work and where human judgment is still irreplaceable.

AI is excellent at search, summarization, language editing and pattern recognition across large corpora. It is not excellent at causal inference, domain judgment, ethics decisions or verifying facts against primary sources. The safest workflow is retrieval-augmented generation over a curated library, followed by human verification of every claim and citation. SciExpert enforces this with citation guardrails, run logs and conflict-of-interest checks.
