How to use Reference Sync

Import BibTeX or RIS with a change preview before anything is written, pull a Zotero library, and export back to every format your tools expect.

Steps

   Open Reference Sync

   From the workspace sidebar choose Reference Sync. On a phone, open the All menu and tap Reference Sync.

   Set up your inputs

   Import BibTeX or RIS with a change preview before anything is written, pull a Zotero library, and export back to every format your tools expect. Start with the smallest realistic input so you can check the output before scaling up.

   Run it

   Run the tool and check the first output: bibtex and ris parsing with doi-based de-duplication.

   Review what came back

   Work through the results: create/update/unchanged plan before applying a sync; zotero personal and group library import; bibtex, ris, csl-json and obsidian vault export.

   Save or export

   Save the configuration as a preset if you will repeat it, and export the output when you need it outside SciExpert. Your inputs persist across refreshes and sign-ins.

Tips

• • Start with a small input, verify the output, then scale up.
• • Save a preset once the configuration works so you can reuse it across papers.
