How to use Survey & Data Collection Studio

Build survey instruments with validation and branching logic, then export to REDCap data dictionary or XLSForm for field collection.

Steps

1. 1

   Open Survey & Data Collection Studio

   From the workspace sidebar choose Survey & Data Collection Studio. On a phone, open the All menu and tap Survey & Data Collection Studio.

   Set up your inputs

   Build survey instruments with validation and branching logic, then export to REDCap data dictionary or XLSForm for field collection. Start with the smallest realistic input so you can check the output before scaling up.

   Run it

   Run the tool and check the first output: question types with validation rules.

   Review what came back

   Work through the results: skip and branching logic; redcap data dictionary and xlsform export; responses collected and exported as csv.

5. 5

   Save or export

   Save the configuration as a preset if you will repeat it, and export the output when you need it outside SciExpert. Your inputs persist across refreshes and sign-ins.

• • Start with a small input, verify the output, then scale up.
• • Save a preset once the configuration works so you can reuse it across papers.
